Virtual Reality Infrastructure Lab

The Virtual Reality Infrastructure (VRI) Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is an important tool for training civil engineering students. Under the direction of Dr. Jian Zhao, the VRI lab features a 3D hologram table and software to allow undergraduate and graduate students to solve design problems before the product shows up in a shop or in the field. The table, from Euclideon, is the first in a U.S. university. The lab enables students to test their designs, collaborate, analyze the outcomes, and, ultimately, be ready to be leaders in their workplace.

The VRI lab team is also exploring ways for other departments to utilize the equipment and software, to advance their work. Stay tuned.
