Background

Educational Background:

Ph.D. in Geology, University of Minnesota.

Dissertation Title: Strain Analysis, Rheological Constraints, and Tectonic Model for an Archean Polymictic Conglomerate: Superior Province, Ontario, Canada. (Peter Hudleston, advisor)

  • Includes a synthesis of field work, mathematical strain theory, rheological and microstructural study, and analogue modelling. Developed a theoretical kinematic model that explains oblique lineations within transpression, used deformed polymictic conglomerates to study deformation in rheologically complex rocks, and created a tectonic model that describes the accretion of a portion of the Superior Province.

B. S. with High Distinction and honors in Geology, minor in Mathematics, University of Iowa.

Honors Thesis Title: Middle Devonian faults and joints, Coralville Spillway, east-central Iowa; a brittle manifestation of the Acadian Orogeny in the Midcontinent. (Jim Faulds, advisor)

  • Mapping and analysis of small faults and joints.
