• Energy efficiency: on testing, modeling, and evaluating the power systems of industrial systems and other related power assets. This project includes the technological development for HVAC, power generating facilities, and energy reclamation. (Amano)
  • Smart manufacturing: on linking the manufacturing process/machines with the logged data/collected information, based on optimal predictive decision-making models, to improve process energy efficiency, manufacturing productivity and minimize waste generation (Otieno).
  • Cybersecurity: on modeling and evaluating the cybersecurity of industrial supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and other related cyber assets. The trainees will learn how to efficiently identify cyber vulnerabilities in an industrial setting and develop effective strategies to mitigate cyber risk (Wang).
  • Wastewater and water-energy relationships: on modeling the drinking and wastewater treatment processes. Through the unit processes and coagulation, flocculation, softening, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and residuals management tests are being conducted for better efficiency of the water and wastewater treatment (Amano).
  • Materials and Foundry improvements: on testing equipment for metal casting, powder metallurgy, metallography, heat treating, and other metal processing (Rohatgi)
