Course Description

Pollutant sources and sinks, fundamental pollutant chemistry, monitoring techniques, averaging boundary layers and turbulence, diffusion theories, diffusion models, regional and global-scale pollution problems.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Become familiar with basic concepts air pollution meteorology including visibility, radiation, stability, turbulence, wind profiles and diffusion models
  • Gain the ability to solve applied air pollution problems using appropriate quantitative physical and mathematical methods
  • Gain an understanding of the physical significance of quantitative concepts in air pollution meteorology.

To comply with a Higher Learning Commission requirement, the course syllabus will provide information on the investment of time by an average student to achieve the learning goals of the course.

The amount of time that an average student should expect to spend on this class is given below.

37 hours Time in the classroom (face to face instruction)
