Catalogues and Special Collections

2021 Update: New sources have been added to the bibliography ad hoc, but a more proper update is ‘on the list’!

In this section I have attempted to compile the most important catalogues and references to special collections (private and public) found in journals and edited volumes; in some cases terracottas are also included. Since the focus of this site is on its surface Cypriot sculpture, I have left out some volumes (e.g., in the SIMA Vol. XX series) which do not contain sculpture. It is certainly possible that I have missed some and I will add these as they come to my attention. This list does not include excavation volumes which appear as catalogues—these have been listed under the ‘Excavation and General Site Reports’ section. These have been separated out because they are associated with more recent scientific investigations and their source value is less limited than museum catalogues. You will also find articles which focus on individual pieces within a specific collection. Likewise, there are some references which give background information on the formation of a collection (the ‘who’, ‘when’ and ‘where’).
