Altheim-Heiligkreuztal Speckhau Tumulus 18 Grave 6 Belt and Head Ornament

The video was created initially for the “Kelten” exhibit at the Landesmuseum in Stuttgart in 2012 in order to illustrate the complex belt assemblages found in certain women’s graves in Hallstatt D1 (600-550 BC) in the region around the early Iron Age hillfort. The animation was commissioned by the Tübingen Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (F. Kleina and T. Kreß) and eventually included the ring and pin head ornament as well as the belt area. These belt and head ornament sets are always found in the graves of adult women of child-bearing age or just past that phase of life and probably represent a certain social role.
