ON HOLD: Techno-economic Mapping of Die Casting Process

Motivation

  • Manufacturing using the die casting of metals is a complex and energy intensive process widely used for making small metallic components like small internal combustion engines.  The process has made great advances in recent years, however, manufacturers need to understand the interacting process variables and results in order to make economic decisions on how to improve their processes.

Goals

  • This project seeks to identify potential high gain cost savings in die casting using a value added approach to system analysis.
